Phillip (Phil) England dedicated 39 years of his life to public education. He began his career as a teacher in Iowa and then went on to serve as a principal and superintendent. In 1983 he became the superintendent for the Camp Verde School System and served in that position until he retired in 1999.
Mr. England was committed to continually improving public education in Camp Verde, including a strong desire to improve the school’s fine arts program. To this end, Mr. England spearheaded the building of a fine arts auditorium as part of a larger school facility improvement project.
Throughout the years Mr. England has been a leader in the community. He served as the President of the Camp Verde Endowment Board, President of the Camp Verde Christian School Board, President of the Air Force Academy Arizona Parents Association, a member of the Camp Verde Chamber of Commerce, Camp Verde General Plan Committee, Verde Valley Little League Board and the Kiwanis Club. Additionally, he served in various leadership capacities at the Camp Verde United Methodist Church.
In 2013 the Camp Verde School auditorium was renamed the Phillip England Center for the Performing Arts in honor of Mr. England’s distinguished public service and dedication to the performing arts and community.
